Kids Rooms: Finding the Right Furniture

When we plan the rooms for our children, we usually form this visual image in our minds of the perfect child’s room. Many times finding a magazine picture of a room we would love to copy. But when it comes to trying to copy a picture, finding the same pieces is not always as easy as it seems. This is where we need to start using a little creativity of our own.

The basic piece of furniture in a child’s room is his bed. Some times we do not have a choice in the bed that we will use. The number one priority in planning the decor of the room is to start with a colorful, fun stylish bedspread that your child likes and will enjoy for several years to come. From this you can choose the color palette for the walls and accessories around the room. Make the color cheerful and bright. At this show Babyiture launched one of their new custom hand painted tables by owner, Patricia Steele. Using Kidkraft’s White Nantucket Table with 4 Pastel Chairs as the basis for the Sea Side Racer Table and Chair Set, she painted a winding road around the top of the table while inside the road, she painted a beach scene with soft pastel water acrylics including an umbrella, beach ball, flip flops, sand bucket and shovel, Adirondack chair, towel, and surf board. Pink and purple stripes alternate around the edge of the table. Two of the chairs have a beach scene painted on the back while the other two chairs have one pink Volks wagon racer and one purple Volks wagon racer. The racers resemble the two Fisher Price Li’l Zoomers that sit on top of the table.
