Kids Rooms: Finding the Right Furniture

When we plan the rooms for our children, we usually form this visual image in our minds of the perfect child’s room. Many times finding a magazine picture of a room we would love to copy. But when it comes to trying to copy a picture, finding the same pieces is not always as easy as it seems. This is where we need to start using a little creativity of our own.

The basic piece of furniture in a child’s room is his bed. Some times we do not have a choice in the bed that we will use. The number one priority in planning the decor of the room is to start with a colorful, fun stylish bedspread that your child likes and will enjoy for several years to come. From this you can choose the color palette for the walls and accessories around the room. Make the color cheerful and bright. Kids Rooms: New Furniture Products for Children

At this time of the year most of the children’s product manufacturers are coming out with their new designs and products. I know it is part of the marketing strategy right here before Christmas, to entice us into purchasing the latest, newest thing on the market. And what is worse, many of us with children and grandchildren fall for it! We are always looking for something new, something unique, something different to give our child for his birthday or Christmas; therefore, the toy manufacturers are catering to us.

One of the unique designs that I favor this year is Levels of Discovery’s Princess Activity Desk and Chair. It won’t be available until the end of November, but still in time for Christmas if you get your orders in early. This precious desk coordinates with the Always a Princess Collection with the message written across the top of the desk. The inside of the desk helps encourage children to learn organizational skills by providing roomy storage compartments. The slow-closing metal safety hinge will prevent little fingers from becoming entrapped. Additional storage compartments can be found beneath the chair seat. The space-saving design allows the chair, with the removable padded seat cushion, to slide under the desk when not in use.

Country Racer Table

It seems all children find small vehicles to vroom around the top of tables, chairs or whatever is flat as they creatively play. Sometimes, as adults, we find ourselves, cringing as that car goes across our expensive side tables or dressing table tops. To solve that problem with our Granddaughter, Miley, I painted what I call the Country Racer Table. The table consist of a race track around the outside of the table; while inside the race track, I painted a Country Scene. She now uses the Fisher Price Toddler Racers to run around the track.
